I've been spending quite a bit of time tending to the garden this summer—I've enjoyed it more than I would've expected, although I shouldn't be surprised because at some point it's not unlike editing. Also, it gives me a reason to be outside. I could do without having to mass-murder Japanese beetles, though; if we ever buy a house, we'll skip the roses.
Mushrooms (including stinkhorns!) haven't been the only strange news around our place. My favorite flower is a mutant, two purple daisies (or daisy-like flowers—I'm not good with the flower names yet) that are conjoined. I noticed it before it was a just a bud, and last weekend the petals really began growing. Adam hates it, but I think it's makes all the other daisies look dull.
